Overview of St Joseph's

St Joseph’s Central School Blayney is a Catholic co-educational school community which provides a comprehensive, well rounded education for all students from their earliest years in Kindergarten to the completion of their formal compulsory junior secondary schooling in Year Ten.

The formal teaching of Religious Education takes place for all ages and follows the Diocesan developed "The Christ We Proclaim" units of work. Sacramental programs are offered for families with children seeking the reception of Reconciliation (Year Two), First Holy Communion ( Year Three) and Confirmation (Year Six). Whole school masses, parish celebrations and regular liturgies are also made available through the parish priest and the school.

The school’s mission highlights the development of the whole person within a safe, faithfilled and caring environment. The school’s motto urges students to "strive for better things", to set high expectations and pursue excellence. The school maintains strong communication links with the parent body, and through the Parent Association offers a regular forum for genuine discussion, friendship and support.

St Joseph’s Catholic Central School offers a quality Catholic education within a family atmosphere. The curriculum is supported by an up-to-date teaching and learning pedagogy, and is underpinned by a wide range of appropriate and relevant resources. Out of School experiences in the cultural, academic, spiritual, social and sporting arenas are strategically provided and enable all students an opportunity to broaden what could be seen as a narrow and insular outlook.

St Joseph’s Catholic Central School Blayney is an integral link within the Catholic parish of St James. It is located in a small rural setting, and caters for the individual needs of all students across a curriculum framework that provides participation, opportunity and equality. Individual Education Programs are available and are supported by literacy and numeracy specialist teachers and assistants.

To assist students in fulfilling their academic potential, St Joseph's boasts small class sizes and friendly, approachable suitably qualified and experienced teaching and ancillary staff. See statistics for more information.

Pastoral Care in the school underpins the welfare and discipline policies. The commendation system for managing student behaviour focuses on positive acknowledgement and reward for success, acceptable conduct and achievement. Students are also encouraged to reflect on their unacceptable conduct and underachievement.
